About me

Kinesiology and personal training

I am registered with the BC Association of Kinesiologists as well as ICBC, which allows me to provide kinesiology services privately, through extended health benefits, and through ICBC claims.  I am a certified personal trainer through the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) as well as a certified senior fitness specialist through the American Council on Exercise (ACE).

I work with adults of all ages who are interested in strength gain and retention, muscle building, pain and injury treatment and prevention, mobility and daily physical function, and prevention of disease and cognitive decline caused by physical inactivity. I frequently work with beginners wanting to learn how to safely and confidently begin resistance training and increase their overall fitness, and novices who need an extra push or want to improve their technique.

I have eleven years of experience weight training, going through trial and error writing programs for myself, learning proper technique and working towards different goals. I have also spent five years pole dancing, through which I have learned more about different applications of strength and flexibility as well as injury prevention and treatment.

I provide short-term and long-term person training as well as exercise programming and follow up.

My health & fitness philosophy

I am passionate about exercise as a means to improve quality of life through a positive focus on improving physical health, increased physical ability and prevention, as well as treatment of pain and injury. I place strong emphasis on developing a positive relationship to exercise, seeing it as something fun and rewarding that improves self image and confidence. My values in terms of health and fitness are consistency, sustainability and enjoyment, as I believe the best predictor of success in this context is finding something you enjoy doing and being consistent and patient with yourself.
